Graphic T-Shirt Design Project
1. What was your job for this project?
My job for this project was to create a shirt for Urban Outfitters using a company, and I had dad’s world famous barbeque, and I had to fit the brand design for both brands. I had to then design it on adobe illustrator, print it and peel the design so all the negative space was taken away. Next, I had to have the design pressed onto the shirt. Then, I took it a step further and cut a v-neck into the shirt and cut holes to give it a distressed look.
2. What was the design process you took to complete the project? Please list your steps below.
Brainstorm and draw my design while also fitting the companies feels.
Use adobe illustrator to create my design. Mainly using shape builder, fonts, and the pen tool.
Make sure each design was one compound path
Print the design
Weed the design, making sure each detail was the same as the computer design
Cut the v neck in the shirt
Press the design onto the shirt
Cut the holes into the shirt
3. What did you find most challenging about your design?
What I found most difficult about my design was taking an extremely random
Company, that you wouldn’t usually see on a t shirt, let alone at Urban
Outfitters, and creating something that would be appealing to people to buy
because the company itself, didn’t have the most appealing name.
4. If you can change one thing about your design what would you change?
One thing that I would change about my design if I could would be making the actual illustrator design look a little distressed and faded in some parts because i felt that my company was very old fashioned and Urban Outfitters sells so many distressed tees, so it would have fit both companies.
5. What do you think makes a good graphic t-shirt design?
What I think makes a good graphic t-shirt design is a design that matches the company it is representing while also pleasing the people who would buy it. The most important think is designing a shirt that appeals to people so I think that making a design that fits with current trends and has a specific design that can be read and easy to understand is best.
